$2,000 initial minimum balance

If approved for margin, a minimum of $2,000 in the Money Market Sweep Option or marginable securities must be available in your account to use margin borrowing. Once $2,000 is available in a margin approved account, we can extend credit to you to buy securities or withdraw cash for use outside of your account.

Important: If you are in the FDIC insured sweep option your cash will not count towards your account’s initial minimum balance. If you switch to the Money Market sweep option, your cash will count towards your account’s initial minimum balance.

Tip: The $2,000 minimum margin requirement is set by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Tip: While margin can boost an investment strategy, buying securities on margin is not for everyone. Before investing on margin, please give the Margin Account Agreement the once over to review important risk disclosure information, and see our margin interest rates.
