Pricing Programs

We offer two different pricing programs so you can be in control of what you pay for trades and which research tools you need. We know one size fits all doesn't always, well, fit. The two pricing programs to choose from are Basic and Advantage; each has its own associated commissions and features. The Basic Pricing Program is built for the less frequent investor who wants to pay as they go. Basic has no monthly charge and you pay $4 commission for each purchase you make through your Automatic Investment Plan. All sales are made with real-time trades and are subject to applicable commissions. Any changes to your account's pricing program must be completed online by you.

Advantage subscribers enjoy 12 credits for automatic investments per month (and $1 per trade thereafter) and access to premium research benefits, all for a monthly subscription of $12. If switching to Advantage seems like a smart move for you, review our pricing and rates for the 411.

You can sign up for the Advantage pricing program at anytime. Just follow these steps:

1. Click on the Accounts tab and navigate to Overview > Profile & Settings and select the Pricing Program tab (sign in required).
2. Click the Upgrade to Advantage link.
3. You'll be taken to a page that allows you to compare pricing for Advantage and Basic. From this page, click on the Upgrade to Advantage button.
4. Now, you just need to select the start date and payment method, then authorize the change by entering the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. Click Next to proceed.
5. Verify your selections and click the Start button.

When upgrading to Advantage you can choose to either "Start immediately" or "Start next month":

• Start immediately – You'll have immediate access to the Advantage benefits and pay your first monthly subscription on the following business day.
• Start next month – Your benefits are available at the start of the next month. Monthly subscriptions are collected on the first day of each month.

Once payment of the Advantage's monthly subscription has been queued up – either by reaching the beginning of the month or by enrolling – that ship has sailed and the charge cannot be stopped or reversed for that month. Any changes apply to future months.

Tip: All changes to the pricing program must be completed online by the account owner.

If Advantage is your pricing program pick, you can pay for the monthly subscription from your checking or savings account or with a credit card.

Tip: For each ShareBuilder account, you can only have one bank account on file at a time. If you change this bank account (here's the important part), all future deposits and monthly subscription charges are made from the checking or savings account on file when the request is processed.

The monthly subscription for the Advantage pricing program is billed on the first day of each month. When upgrading to Advantage mid-month, you'll have the option of beginning immediately (you'll then be billed for your first month on the following business day) or beginning at the start of the next month.

Click on the Accounts tab and navigate to Overview > Profile & Settings and select the Pricing Program tab (sign in required)

From the Pricing Program page, depending on your situation, you can either upgrade to Advantage or unsubscribe from Advantage.

Hey, it's okay to change your mind. If your investing plans have changed, you can unsubscribe from Advantage to the Basic pricing program which has no monthly charge (we love that about it too). Switch to Basic by following these steps:

1. Click on the Accounts tab > Overview > Profile & Settings > Pricing Program (sign in required)
2. Click the Unsubscribe link
3. Choose to unsubscribe to Basic and click Next
4. Confirm that you want to unsubscribe and click Next

Tip: When you unsubscribe to Basic, you'll receive the Advantage benefits for the remainder of the month you have already paid for.
