Since ShareBuilder became part of ING DIRECT, we’ve been working hard to improve the customer experience and to make our two websites work better together. For customers who have accounts with ING DIRECT and ShareBuilder, you can now connect your accounts to view balances on both websites and instantly transfer money between your accounts.
More information about linking your accounts and doing instant transfers
To get started, you’ll need to connect your ING DIRECT and ShareBuilder accounts. This can be done by logging into ingdirect.com and either clicking on the Access your ShareBuilder account(s) link on the 'My Accounts' page or the Connect your accounts for instant transfers link on the 'Transfer Money' page. From there, all you will need to do is provide your ShareBuilder username and password.
Note: If you just created a ShareBuilder account for the first time, it may take up to 2 business days before you see the option to connect your account on the ING DIRECT website.
After your accounts are connected, your ShareBuilder accounts will appear on the 'My Accounts' page on the ingdirect.com website. From the 'My Accounts' page you will also have the ability to click on a ShareBuilder account and link over to the ShareBuilder website without having to log in again on ShareBuilder. If you access ShareBuilder in this way, you'll also be able to view your ING DIRECT balances for Orange Savings, Electric Orange, and Orange CD accounts. Find out more about connecting your accounts.

No, this is a one-time process performed on ingdirect.com. Please note that after you’ve performed your one-time connection that you’ll need to log in to the ING DIRECT website in order to view balances on the ShareBuilder and ING DIRECT websites and instantly transfer money between your accounts.
Yes, you can connect your remaining ShareBuilder usernames (we call them profiles) anytime by calling our Customer Service Associates and requesting the connection. Remember to have your account information available as they will require you to verify your credentials prior to connecting the profiles.
Yes, you can break this connection anytime by calling our Customer Service Associates and requesting to have your accounts disconnected. But remember that this will also break your ability to instantly transfer money between your ShareBuilder and other ING DIRECT bank accounts.
