The 'early exercise' charge covers the delivery of the shares, the removal of the exercised options and processing by ShareBuilder Securities. You will not be charged a separate trade commission when you exercise a call (buy) or a put (sell).

Owners of short call option contracts that are assigned an exercise notice prior to expiration or let their short call option finish in-the-money will be assessed an “assignment” charge. The current cost is $20.00 per assignment.
This charge pays for the delivery of the shares, the removal of the assigned options contracts and processing by ShareBuilder. You will not be charged a separate trade commission if your short call position is assigned.
