How do I log in to ShareBuilder?

To log in to your ShareBuilder account, you will need to enter your username and password. If you are having trouble logging in or if you can't remember your username or password, you can recover your log in information.

Important: Your username and password are the keys to your account. You should never give out this information or send it in an email. ShareBuilder employees will never ask for your password.

If I have linked accounts, which will I be logged in to?

If you have several ShareBuilder accounts linked to a single username, you will automatically be signed into the first account you opened with ShareBuilder. You can then switch the display to any of your other accounts.

Help! I’m having trouble logging in to ShareBuilder

When logging in, it is important to remember that, for enhanced security, usernames and passwords are case sensitive. You will need to enter this information in exactly the same way as when you created your username or last updated your password.

If you have verified that you are entering in the correct case of your username and password and you still can't access your account, please try to recover your log in information.

How do I log in if I forgot my username or password?

If you are having trouble logging in or if you can't remember your username or password, you can access your account by following these instructions:

  1. Click the Log In link at the top of the ShareBuilder home page.
  2. Click the Forgot username or password? link.
  3. E3. Enter the last 4 digits of your Social Security number (or your Individual Tax Identification Number), your date of birth (date and year) and your last name, then click the Next button.
  4. Enter the answer to your Security Question and click the Next button.
  5. You will be shown your username and be requested to either enter or to change your password.
  6. Click the Save button.

Once you have completed these steps, you will be logged in to your ShareBuilder account.

Note: In certain situations, you will be asked to provide additional identifying information.

Is the ShareBuilder site secure?

ShareBuilder Securities Corporation takes the security of information very seriously. ShareBuilder has established standards and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to customer information. ShareBuilder uses physical, electronic and procedural safeguards (including data encryption and secure socket layer technology) that meet or exceed industry standards.

In addition, ShareBuilder's technology is regularly tested and updated to maintain and improve the protection of customer information. ShareBuilder's data encryption matches the encryption level of your browser, up to 128 bit. Please contact your browser's manufacturer for information on how to upgrade your browser's encryption level.

ShareBuilder restricts any access to personal customer information to employees and service providers that have legitimate business purposes to assist or provide services to you. Why do I need to verify my email address?

When ShareBuilder receives notification that one or more emails could not be delivered or otherwise encountered problems being delivered, we ask that you verify that we have the correct email address on file. As an online only company, email is the main method ShareBuilder uses to contact account owners. Notifications about trade confirmations, statements and tax documents are all sent via email, as are any important announcements about the status of your account.

Please update your address in the field(s) provided. If the address is correct, no change is required. Once you have made any necessary corrections, click Save to proceed.

Note: Incorrect contact information may result in your ShareBuilder account being restricted from trading.

Why do I need to change my password every time I log in?

You should not be required to change your password every time your log in. Many Internet browsers offer the ability to remember your passwords for you. When you visit a password-protected website, your browser will automatically fill in the username and password fields. The problem arises when you change the password to access your account. Because your browser recalls the old password, it is necessary to update the password saved by your Internet browser.

To update the password saved by your Internet browser, please follow the instructions below:

  1. In the top-right corner of the ShareBuilder website, click Log In.
  2. Let your browser fill in your username and password, but DO NOT click the Log In button. The username should appear in 'Username' field and the password should appear as a series of asterisks or black dots in the 'Password' field.
  3. Clear out the dots or asterisks in the password field and type in your updated password.
  4. Click the Log In button. Your Internet browser will record the new password.

If you are still unable to access your ShareBuilder Account, please complete the Password/Username Recovery process. As you complete it, please make a note of your username (exactly as it appears) and your new password. Then retry the instructions above being careful to enter your username and password correctly.
